Resources for the patient with a brain lesion

You probably are a bit unsure of what questions to ask – dealing with a brain lesion can be stressful and confusing. Here are some good questions to ask your doctor to help you understand your condition and your options.

There are always three key questions to ask about your health. When talking to your doctor, nurse, pharmacist – anyone assisting in your healthcare – the Partnership for Clear Health Communication recommends that you ask these questions:

  • What is my main problem?
  • What do I need to do?
  • Why is it important for me to do this?

Make sure you understand the answers and are comfortable with the information you have received. You may want to bring a family member along to help you in the discussion with your doctor. It is your health – so don’t ever be afraid of asking questions or getting a second opinion to make sure that you are being treated appropriately.
